My barely six-month-old Volkswagen Golf GTI has been sitting in the garage for the past two months, except for the odd spin to keep the battery charged. Today however was a big day for my little VW, it was getting summer shoes.
Fortunately, we didn’t have to go far from home. Autotech Performance in Pierrefonds is a well-respected garage in the West Island. I know I have been pleased with the service I get from their family business. I bought winter tires here last fall and had them installed. Prices were competitive and the service was great. Plus my car was clean when I got it back.
This time the experience was a bit different what with social distancing and everybody wearing masks, It was a no contact event.. First I sanitized my hands and put my keys on the counter which were sanitized before being handed off to the technician. No waiting in the waiting room so, I went for a walk. When my car was ready I put my credit card and CAA card on the counter which were sanitized before being processed. When they were handed back to me the cards were sanitized again.
It looks like we are going to have to get used to this new way of doing business until there is a vaccine or at least a therapeutic that works.
